For the third consecutive year, the Achilleion Museum successfully organized the “Musical Events”, a cultural initiative carried out by the Achilleion Museum and the Hellenic Public Properties Company (HPPC S.A.) since 2020 as part of the Museum’s broader cultural activities.

This year, the “Achilleion 2022” Musical Events, which attracted not only local residents but also numerous Greek and international visitors, featured a series of high-level cultural performances with the participation of internationally acclaimed artists.

Specifically, this year’s events included performances by Jelena Bancovic accompanied by the internationally renowned pianist Sotiris Louizos, and the Ionian Camerata of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University, under the direction of Spyros Gkontis.

Also participating were the Corfu Women’s Choir conducted by Christina Kalliaridou, the F.E. Mantzaros Philharmonic with its woodwind ensemble under the direction of Spyros Rouvas, the wind ensemble conducted by Sokratis Anthis, tenors Pantelis Kontos and Sotiris Triantis, and the Omonia Gastouri Philharmonic in the concert commemorating its 124th anniversary, under the direction of Spyros Rallis, with soloist Zoi Tiganouria.

This year, visitors to the Achilleion Museum also had the opportunity to enjoy performances by soprano Ioanna Karamolegkou and tenor Ioannis Kavouras in the Opera Gala concerts; Panos Telekoglou, Elli Katentzian, and Iason Papadopoulos in the Euphoria concert; Elli Katentzian in the Solo Cello Night concert; the Bluebirds and Nefeli Papapanagi in “Jazz at the Achilleion Palace”; as well as the PNTP School, led by Sia Koskina with Denia Leventi, Konstantinos Theocharis, and students of the school, in the musical performance “Musical at the Palace.”

With the close and invaluable collaboration of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University, the Association for Culture, Sports, and Environment (SYPAP), the philharmonic bands, MusicArk, and other organizations, this year’s event was a complete success.

The beautiful, atmospheric Palace Gardens, the most idyllic concert venue, have now become a cultural hub that significantly contributes to the cultural enrichment of Corfu, as well as to the enhancement of tourism and the development of the local economy.
